Trained to design, built to operate

I studied multimedia design at RMIT, went through Limkokwing as a student and returned as a principal lecturer, then took an MBA at Birmingham City University once I had enough scar tissue for the theory to mean anything.

What I actually do has stayed the same across every industry I have touched. Walk into an operation, work out which part is quietly bleeding, rebuild that part, then stay long enough to run it properly. Fleets in Manila, brands in Kuala Lumpur, a film set, a room full of executives. Same job, different vocabulary.

The creative work is not a hobby I keep on the side. Directing taught me how to hold a hundred moving parts and a deadline in the same head, which turns out to be most of what running a company is.

How I got here, in waypoints

Multimedia design at RMIT, an MBA at Birmingham City University, and a career that refused to pick one lane.

2000s

Student, then principal lecturer, at Limkokwing

Studied 3D animation and video production there, then went back to teach as a principal lecturer. The university later profiled me as an alumnus.
2005 to 2007

Head of Training, Click Grafix International

Two years building and running corporate training programmes. Standing in front of a room every week is where I learned that most business problems are communication problems wearing a disguise.
2005

Created SUPER YOU RISE

A life transformation and strategy workshop, built after my own run through Tony Robbins territory and shaped over two decades of running rooms.
2007

Took the director's chair

Stepped behind the camera and started directing. The training room and the film set turned out to ask for the same thing: hold a hundred moving parts in your head and still make the deadline.
2009

Signed to Aquila Emas

Joined the talent agency's roster. Star Media Group was still listing me in its line up two years later.
2010

Founded an agency and published a book

Started Ad Access Worldwide in Kuala Lumpur, and put out Have You Found Yourself Yet? through Lulu Press in the October. One year, two directions.
2011 / 2012

Chow Kit, then 7 Gerhana

Acted in Chow Kit for Primeworks Studios, and directed the serial drama 7 Gerhana, which ran on Astro Prima on Wednesday nights.
2014

Started coaching business owners in the Philippines

Extensive one to one work with founders and operators across the country. Four years of it before any of that turned into a business of my own.
2018

Became partners at SSD GPS

The coaching turned into a partnership, and a large part of my operating life moved to Manila. Fleets, hardware, field teams, collections, the unglamorous parts.
2018 to 2019

Recorded MBA On Air

Three seasons of a business coaching podcast, made across Malaysia and the Philippines. Coaching one to one scales badly. Putting it on tape was the fix.
Now

Building across both countries

Splitting time between Kuala Lumpur and Manila, running telematics and marketing, launching in regenerative health, and still coaching the people who ask.
